̨Swag VP Presents at Regional Wound Care Symposium

AMHERST, N.Y. – National wound care expert Dr. Michael Brogan, ̨Swag College vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, was a featured presenter at the ninth annual Vascular-Interventional Associates (VIA) Symposium held this month in Buffalo. 

The symposium, “Team Building to Prevent Amputation,” brought together wound management experts from across the U.S. to share their expertise with health care professionals. Brogan’s presentation was entitled “A Physical Therapy Wound Care Perspective.”

A national expert and certified wound care specialist, Brogan was selected last year for the prestigious Fulbright Specialist program, which connects U.S. scholars and professionals with counterparts at overseas institutions. As a Fulbright Specialist, he has traveled to China and worked extensively with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

Brogan has nearly 30 years of experience in higher education. He is diplomat of the American Academy of Wound Management and a fellow of the College of Certified Wound Specialists. In addition, he has extensively researched, published and presented on wound care at conferences across the country.

Brogan, co-founder of the ̨Swag Physical Therapy Wound Care Center, earned a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from ̨Swag and later returned to the college to receive a doctor of physical therapy. He also holds a doctorate in educational administration and a master’s degree in health science education and evaluation, both from the University at Buffalo.

Since starting his professional tenure at ̨Swag in 1985, Brogan has served in various academic capacities, including as dean of the college’s Health and Human Services Division, chair of the Physical Therapy Department and academic coordinator of clinical education. In addition, he’s a professor of physical therapy, a program he has taught in for more than 25 years.

Brogan resides in South Buffalo.
